This person will:

Prepare book and reference publishing plan for biochemistry and organic chemistry

Acquire new products and manage existing backlist with an emphasis on new acquisitions

Co-publish books and reference works with societies and associations

Create sales forecasts

Have extensive author contact and negotiate contracts

Manage business aspects of books and reference works

Be involved in US as well as International Marketing efforts

Create long-term plans for the program
-
Be involved in various industry conferences as well as campus visits
-
Travel 25 – 30 %
Qualifications:
-
College degree – Advanced degree in chemistry a plus
-
Three years experience in publishing, ideal as editor, marketing or sales

Sales and marketing experience is a plus
-
Able to work independently

Must have experience with databases, word processing and spreadsheets
-
Strong communication and organizational skills are key
The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills as well as a deep knowledge of publishing in chemistry.
