This person will:

• Have full managerial responsibility over a team of editors
• The team will acquire in Environmental Sciences, Earth Sciences and related areas
• Key subject areas will include Ocean & Atmosphere, Geology, Geophysics, etc.
• May also have dotted line managerial responsibility over some other editors
• Be tasked with training and developing their team
• Manage the budgets/goals for their team
• Manage a list of major reference works and well respected legacy titles
• Be responsible for a list with a $9 million lifetime value
• Handle $4 million - $6 million in acq's themselves + managing team
• Be familiar with developing and maintaining a solid list of potential author contacts
• Travel up to 30% for conferences, campus visits and meeting with remote AE's
• Be creative, innovative, organized, results oriented individual
• Be involved in US and possibly some International Editorial/Marketing efforts
• Conduct competitive research and analysis on similar industry products

Qualifications needed are:

• College degree in Sciences is a HUGE plus
• Direct industry experience could offset need for a Science degree
• 5 - 7 years editorial experience and/or hard science experience
• Sales and marketing experience is a plus
• Must have experience with Excel, MS Word, etc.
